PRESCHOOL OPEN DOORS (PATCH)

The Department of Human Services (DHS), Benefit, Employment, and Support Services Division (BESSD) operates the Preschool Open Doors (POD) program, which helps eligible Hawaii families pay for preschool for up to one year in the year before the child enters kindergarten. Children must turn 4 years old between August 1 of the prior year and July 31 of the current year in which they are applying for POD services to be eligible. Priority enrollment goes to underserved or at-risk children. Income eligibility limits also apply to receive POD services.  Families may choose any of the 400-plus preschools that DHS licenses that best fits their needs and the needs of their children.   Application window January - March.

 

PAUAHI KEIKI SCHOLARS (Preschool)

Pauahi Keiki Scholars (PKS) is a need-based scholarship for eligible keiki who are planning to attend a participating PKS preschool in Hawaii (not a Kamehameha Schools preschool).  All applicants must be residents of the State of Hawaii. Award preference is given to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.  The application window is November 1 - February 15.
